Russia has replaced Angola as the largest supplier of oil to China in August

In August, Russia has become the largest supplier of oil to China, beating Angola, said Wednesday the General Customs Administration of China.

For example, Russian oil supplies to China in August rose 50.2 percent YoY to 4.64 million tons (1.09 million bpd) due to the increased demand from independent private refineries - the so-called samovars.

Russia for the first time became the largest supplier of black gold to China in May this year, but in July, ceded the leadership of Angola. Saudi Arabia at the time also ranked first.

In the first eight months of this year, imports of Russian oil to China gained 30 percent over the previous year to 34.14 million tons (977.330 barrels per day).

Reduced domestic production has struck commercial reserves of oil, forcing refineries to increase imports in August, in order to fill the repository, according to BMI Research report.

The coming season of repair at refineries and commissioning of new stores will push China further increase imports in the fourth quarter, the report said.

Samovars in Shandong province in northeast China in August increased their production by 46.9 percent, according to the August report analyst firm ICIS-C1 Energy.

China has increased its oil imports from Saudi Arabia by 11.7 percent YoY to 4.36 million tonnes (1.03 million barrels per day).

From the beginning, Saudi Arabia remains the largest supplier of oil to China, increasing the supply amount of 1 percent compared with the previous year to 997,520 barrels per day.

Deliveries from Oman in August gained 37.9 percent YoY to 3.56 million tonnes (837.396 barrels per day).

Shipments from Iran have increased by 48.4 percent in August to 3.17 million tons (746.029 barrels per day). In the first eight months of this year, imports of Iranian crude oil increased by 7 percent compared with the previous year to 20.55 million tons (588.294 barrels per day).

Delivery oil from Iraq in August fell to 28.9 percent year compared to 2.4 million tons (545.161 bpd). From January to August, imports increased by 4.6 percent compared with the previous year.

Total China in August has increased imports by 25 per cent in annual comparison, setting a new record.
