Why the dollar went from green and the name of the "buck"?

The paper used to print US dollars, issued only one company. To sell their products, the company can only be the US Federal Reserve. These measures have been taken to maintain the quality and the secret of the exact composition of the paper.

Previously, the black and white notes can be easily faked. Green dye has become fundamental in the design of banknotes from the beginning of the XX century. Green began to be added in the form of stripes on the edges. Later, when it was decided to completely withdraw from the black and white palette, the choice of colors decided not to think long and leave the already existing warehouses green dye. So there were notes on one side of the green.

Hence, by the way, and gave its name to the dollar, "buck", the English Green Backs ( «green backs"). Further, the term reduced colloquially to "buck".

Today, the dollar made a variety of design in the form of yellow, gray and even pink shades.
